Gould Medical Group is looking for a BE/BC Internal Medicine Associate Program Director physician in Modesto, CA.
Gould Medical Group is a growing, 450+ clinican multi-specialty group located about two hours east of San Francisco, California. Our communities offer quick access to the bay area as well as other hot spots such as Napa Valley, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe.
The Ambulatory Associate Program Director will work closely with the Program Director and Inpatient Associate Program Directors to design and lead a top-notch inaugural residency at Sutter Memorial Medical Center – Modesto through leadership and teaching within our Sutter Gould Medical Foundation Ambulatory Practices. The position includes leadership, teaching, patient care, . and 0.25 FTE of administrative time, A strong and inspirational passion for Ambulatory Care is required. Duties of the Internal Medicine Ambulatory Associate Program Director
Resident Specific
- Supervise residents and medical students in the outpatient continuity clinic
- Create an effective ambulatory practice, balancing educational, clinical service, and patient needs
- Teach residents cost effective medicine through programs to manage value-based care/population health, pharmaceutical costs, document/code/bill correctly, consult appropriately, and time management
- Revise and implement ambulatory curriculum to provide learning experiences that show passion for ambulatory medicine
- Complete resident and student evaluations as assigned by the program/department in a timely manner
- Mentor resident physicians
- Participate in resident didactics and case-based learnings on weekdays
- Lead in curriculum development with the Residency program
- Advise and assist in resident milestone evaluations
- Respect the ACGME limits on resident work hours, paying close attention to signs of fatigue and sleep deprivation in individuals and intervening as appropriate
- Serve as a member of the Clinical Competence Committee and Program Evaluation Committee and attend faculty and residency meetings
- Support and participate in scholarly activity that has an ambulatory or quality improvement focus
Clinical and Administrative Duties
- (Optional) Serve as the Ambulatory Site Director for the hospital-based Internal Medicine Continuity Clinic at Sutter Memorial Medical Center
- Be the leader of ambulatory trainings and experiences within the Internal Medicine residency
- Serve as general medicine attending physician of record or consultant for patients in the outpatient clinic
- Maintain a panel of patients of your own within the faculty and resident academic practice
- Perform or supervise the performance of patient care services to include history-physical examinations and reports, clinic visit notes and evaluations, and similar services including credentialed procedures that are customarily performed in an outpatient general medicine clinic
- Make referrals for secondary and tertiary care
- Collaborate with other attending physicians and consultants
- Document involvement in patient care in the medical record and record charges appropriate to the level of service provided and documented
- Participate in performance improvement projects
- Perform duties in a manner that complies with all applicable standards, rules, policies, and regulations of the hospital, Sutter Memorial Medical Center, Sutter Health, Joint Commission, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
- Provide medical direction and administration to ensure an adequate and qualified learning experience for the internal medicine residents
- Develop the schedule for the didactics and resident & faculty clinics
- Direct provider and medical care team meetings
- Participate in various administrative/clinical staff meetings
- Participate as a member of the internal medicine residency leadership team
- Provide leadership and assist in efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the resident clinic
- Ensure that faculty and residents comply with all Sutter Health / Sutter Memorial Medical Center operational policies, procedures, and processes which include, but are not limited to, those related to staffing, scheduling, registration, billing, collections, reporting, making hospital rounds, proper encounter documentation, and coding
- Ensure that faculty and residents comply with procurement and capital equipment purchases processes and agree to work within the framework of the standardized medical supply, equipment and office supply, formulary, medical records, clinical pathway guidelines, etc.
- Ensure that faculty and residents comply with all managed care policies including utilization review and monitoring
- Participate in committees as assigned by the Program Director
- Develop and provide ongoing updates to the goals and objectives related to resident rotations assigned by Program Director
- Serve as faculty mentor for residents / provide role modeling opportunities and ongoing mentorship for residents
- Duties as assigned by the Program Director
- Act as supervising provider for Advanced Practice Clinicians employed by the clinic
- Collaborate with additional clinic leadership regarding clinic operations
- Must have and maintain current certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine
- Demonstrate a strong interest in the education of residents
- Devote sufficient time to the Residency Program to fulfill supervisory and teaching responsibilities
- Pursue faculty development at least annually to enhance skills in the areas of education, quality improvement, patient safety, physician well-being, and patient care based on their practice-based learning and improvement efforts
- Maintain a working knowledge of the most up-to-date program specific requirements
- Maintain current licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment
- Include ongoing clinical activity
- Must demonstrate ongoing academic achievements in the specialty, such as posters, publications, the development of educational programs, or the conduct of research
- Maintain license to practice medicine in the state of California
- Have faculty experience, leadership, organizational, and administrative qualifications
- Associate Program Director must be designated by the Program Director
- The Associate Program Director reports to the Program Director
- Starting base salary: $300,000
