Overview

The Agency of Digital Services (ADS) is seeking a Web Services Manager to join our Web Services team. This role is pivotal in managing the state's websites for various agencies, conducting training on State platforms, and ensuring a clear and user-friendly digital presence. Our standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:45 am - 4:30 pm, with some flexibility in these hours and telework options while living within the State of Vermont.


As a Web Services Manager, you will work under the Director of Web Services, overseeing the management of agency websites, resolving website issues and needs, conducting training sessions for users on platforms like Drupal, and auditing sites to create strategies that enhance information architecture and clarity. You will work with teams to clarify their websites, web forms and applications. A strong understanding and advocacy for user experience is essential. Additionally, you will support teams in the maintenance of their websites and assist in managing help desk tickets for IT and web needs.

 

Examples of work involve:

  • Managing the State's website template across various agencies to ensure a consistent and effective digital presence.
  • Conducting training sessions on State platforms, including Drupal, to empower users with the skills they need.
  • Performing regular maintenance on websites, addressing issues, and supporting a help desk ticketing system.
  • Performing website audits and helping teams create strategies for content and design that enhance information architecture and clarity.
  • Leading workshops with agency teams to understand their needs and clarify their overall digital strategy.
  • Advocating for and implementing UX best practices and accessibility across all digital platforms.
  • Coordinating with the Director of Web Services to prioritize and manage web projects.
  • Interfacing with the State's web services vendor to support State agencies and facilitate website projects.

This position, Web Services Manager - Limited Service (Job Requisition #52003), is open to all State employees and external applicants.  It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting and there is considerable interaction with users and members of project teams requiring tact and diplomacy to balance competing views. Some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Work outside of regular work schedule may be anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science AND three (3) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

 

OR

 

Associate's degree in computer science or college-level coursework that includes 15 computer science credits AND five (5) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

 

OR

 

Eight (8) or more years of experience in computer or network support, programming or analysis, or database administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in web development, website design, user experience (UX), or another related job.
