The Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) in Bennington is looking for an organized individual to join the team as a VVH Institutional Custodial Supervisor. This is a leadership position within the Custodial/Housekeeping/Laundry Department at the VVH, a skilled nursing facility. This position is a working supervisor, with direct supervision of up to nineteen employees, which consists of two Senior custodial workers and seventeen custodial and laundry workers.  Duties will include working in laundry and custodial, planning, supervisory and evaluation of work and personnel, inventory, addressing employee concerns and submitting a daily report to the Director. At times, you will have to reassign staff during an assigned shift. The ability to work cooperatively is essential. 

 

The hours for this position are 6am to 2:30pm and will include working weekends and holidays. There are times when the position may require that you be able to work alternative shifts due to the operating needs of the facility.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position, including Vermont and national criminal record checks, adult and child abuse registry checks, the Office of Inspector General exclusion database, and motor vehicle driving record checks where applicable.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in a nursing home environment, including office, classroom, and patient care settings.  Direct interactions with residents may be extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury. Duties may, at times extend beyond the normal daytime and work week hours. Occasional off-grounds travel may be required for which private means of transportation must be available.

Incumbent must be able to work outside in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift/carry equipment is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years or more of building custodial work, including floor care AND one (1) or more years of experience managing, supervising, or leading a team.

OR

Two (2) or more years as a VVH Senior Institutional Custodian.
