Overview
This position is responsible for maintaining a high level of knowledge in economic development principles, including the Department's programs, those offered by partner organizations and the Federal Government. A candidate should have both strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to work with a range of business professionals. The candidate is expected to manage one or more of the Department's programs and to be able to simultaneously work on multiple other projects as required. Strong computer skills are expected with an emphasis on the Microsoft Office suite, experience with CRMs and the ability to work with grants management applications.
Candidates should have experience and knowledge in business concepts, financial analysis, real estate development and basic economic concepts. The position engages with business and industry managers and coordinates with other state government agencies, regional and local development corporations, and local government.
Duties require some travel both in state and outside the State as well as occasional evening and weekend meetings with business clients, development organizations, and others. Considerable human relations and negotiation skills are required. Some public speaking will be required. This is a full-time, permanent position that reports to the Director of Business Recruitment and International Trade.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in economics, business administration or a closely related field AND five (5) years or more of experience in economic development and/or business management.
