Overview
We are seeking a skilled Military Maintenance Specialist to join our team in South Burlington. Qualified candidates should have experience in the following fields:
Structural Systems:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on structural systems, including roofs, walls, floors, and foundations
- Conduct inspections and assessments to identify maintenance needs
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules
General Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as replacing door handles and locks
- Conduct repairs and replacements of structural components, such as doors and windows
- Assist with maintenance and repairs of mechanical systems
Administrative:
- Manage maintenance schedules and records
- Order and inventory parts and materials for work orders
- Prepare reports and maintenance documentation
Additional Responsibilities:
- Compliance with safety regulations and Air Force Standards
- Assisting other shops as needed
- Emergency call-ins after hours and weekends
Requirements:
- Background check required for Base access and Government computer access
- Vermont valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance

Work is performed at State of Vermont and Federal National Guard facilities statewide. The incumbent often works near or with hazardous materials, including ammunition and high voltage. Work requires entering confined spaces, removing snow on runways and exposure to loud noises. An incumbent operates heavy equipment and possession of a Commercial Driver's License is required. An incumbent must be able to climb ladders and lift equipment and materials weighing as much as fifty pounds. Work is performed in all kinds of weather. Some work outside of normal duty hours will be required. Travel and overnight stays may be included.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years or more in Construction or Facilities Maintenance.
OR
At least one (1) or more years of Military Maintenance Specialist III
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must possess CDL license OR complete State approved HVAC course.
Must get Vermont recognized License/Certificate in EPA and LP/ Natural Gas.
Must have ES or PS license and VT LP Gas/NG license
Preferred Qualifications- Building Trades/Vocational Education
- Military experience
- Previous experience working on a military installation
- Vermont License or Certificate in EPA and LP/Natural Gas
Incumbents of this job may be required to have a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) issued, which is issued only upon passing a federal background check (Tier 1) including a fingerprint-supported criminal record check. Possession of CAC may be a condition of continued employment according to assigned duties and or location.
Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be required for assigned duties.
