Do you have a passion and commitment to making a difference in Vermont communities?  The Department of Housing and Community Development seeks an enthusiastic and creative individual to join a fun and collaborative team that supports and oversees programs, partnerships, and initiatives that create thriving communities.


As the grants management specialist, you'll use your detail and people oriented administrative, communication, technical assistance, and multi-tasking skills to oversee state and federal grant programs that build strong communities. 


The work includes supporting a growing portfolio of programs such as the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Grants, Municipal Planning Grants, Downtown Transportation Fund, and other state and federal grant programs that build strong, resilient, and welcoming communities.


The position requires a high level of organization and attention to detail; ease in working and communicating with various program partners and awardees; skill in learning and using various software programs to track and monitor grant activities; skill in communication and graphic design, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a highly collaborative and innovative team.

As of July 14, 2024 the step 1 rate for pay grade 23 will be $26.57 per hour. 

 

Who May Apply

This position, Grants Management Specialist Housing and Community Development - Limited Service (Job Requisition #50475), is open to all State employees and external applicants.  It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed primarily in an office setting and in a variety of field situations including large group meetings. Private means of transportation should be available since travel will be required for meetings with various advisory committees, public interest groups, municipal officials and program staff as well as basic position functions. Urgent deadlines can be anticipated. Encounters with adversary groups, conflicting opinions, and public apathy may be anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in business or public administration or related field.

 

OR

 

Bachelor's degree AND one (1) year or more at a professional level in community or housing planning or development, grants management, compliance monitoring, auditing, or accounting, financial management, or in a role with responsibility for management of financial affairs, or a governmental accounting system, including supervised field work or service learning as described in the resume.


OR

 

High School diploma or equivalent AND (5) five years or more working at a professional level in community or housing planning or development, grants management, compliance monitoring, auditing, or accounting, financial management, or in a role with responsibility for management of financial affairs, or a governmental accounting system.
