Overview

Ready to make Vermont's communities even more vibrant and resilient?

The Department of Housing and Community Development is looking for a creative and driven individual to join our dynamic team as a Community Planning and Project Manager. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of transportation, resilience, and economic and community development, helping the team invest millions in grant programs aimed at building walkable and resilient communities where people want to live, work, and play.

Your work will have a direct impact on the future of Vermont, from promoting community revitalization to shaping statewide programs that support healthy, vibrant, and connected communities. Whether it's creating new pedestrian pathways, boosting bike infrastructure, improving public gathering spaces, or advancing policies that help communities adapt to climate change -- you'll be leading the charge.
On top of that, you'll support Vermont's key planning and designation programs, playing a pivotal role in how our communities grow and thrive.

This job is perfect for someone who likes engaging with partners, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys seeing real-world results from their work. If you're organized, resourceful, and passionate about creating places that people love, this is your opportunity to lead transformative projects with a team that's equally committed to making change happen.

Why you'll love it:

  • You'll help shape the future of Vermont's communities.
  • You'll work on the frontlines of policy creation and implementation.
  • You'll collaborate with amazing partners and stakeholders across the state, making connections that drive positive change.
  • DHCD supports a hybrid work environment! This position is Montpelier-based with two in office, collaboration day.
