Overview

The Department of Buildings and General Services is looking for a Buildings Project Manager to work in their Design and Construction Division, managing all phases of building construction projects of varying size and complexity including repairs, renovations, and new construction.

The Buildings Project Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of assigned projects, including project inception; testifying before legislative committees; hiring and oversight of outside consultant engineers and architects; bidding projects; construction oversight; stakeholder communication; and coordination with building tenants. In addition to project management, this position will assist the Operations and Maintenance Division with smaller projects, which could include in-house design, and will assist the Design and Construction Program Chief with technical reviews, vendor evaluations, design guidelines, standard specifications, and procedures.

Candidates with HVAC, Mechanical or Electrical backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and to prioritize and maintain a diverse workload. Individuals with any construction project experience and a desire to focus on construction project management will be considered.

Duties are performed primarily in an office setting, with regular field visits to project sites, including operationally challenging facilities such as psychiatric care and correctional facilities, and the forensics and health laboratories. The Design and Construction Division has a telework policy that allows employees to work from a productive home office up to two days per week.
