Overview

We are seeking a motivated Summer Intern to assist in converting our existing Microsoft Access databases into Salesforce, or providing recommendations for use with other applications. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in database migration and Salesforce customization within a dynamic and collaborative environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing Microsoft Access databases to understand data structures, content and relationships.
  • Provide recommendations for Microsoft Access database migration primarily to Salesforce, but also indicating when this may not be the best solution.
  • Design and develop Salesforce objects, fields, and relationships to mirror existing Access database schemas and a detailed plan for the conversion process.
  • Migrate data from Microsoft Access to Salesforce using appropriate tools and methodologies, where appropriate. Implement the conversion while ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
  • Customize Salesforce user interface (UI) using Lightning components and Visualforce pages.
  • Create and execute test cases to ensure data integrity and functionality post-migration.
  • Document the migration process, including data mapping and transformation rules.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Familiarity with database concepts and experience with Microsoft Access or similar relational databases.
  • Basic understanding of Salesforce platform and customization (object design, workflows, validation rules, etc.).
  • Proficiency in data migration tools and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Prior internship or coursework related to database management or Salesforce development is a plus.

 

Duration and Benefits:

  • This paid internship is expected to be up to 40 hours per week, for the duration of the summer (10 weeks). This may be extended into the Fall semester depending on the results provided during the initial term.

  • Pay range for this opportunity based on experience ranges from $13.32/hour to $20.22/hour
  • Pay range for this opportunity after July 14th based on experience ranges from $13.92/hour to $21.13/hour
Who May Apply

This position, ADS VDH Paid Inernship (Job Requisition #50422), is open to all State employees and external applicants.  This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours, and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.
