Staffing Etc. is seeking an Internal Medicine/Family Practice Nurse Practitioner to work at a Federal Correctional Facility in Florence, Colorado.
The Nurse Practitioner shall be responsible for, but is not limited to:
• Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate
• Take medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays
• Make a diagnosis, provide treatment plans and prescribe medications
• Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizing
• Attend to medical emergencies
• Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, and order or carry out therapy
• Emergency consultation to be performed by the contractor in instances where deemed
necessary. Perform minor surgery utilizing local anesthesia during consultation visits
• Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning,
instituting, evaluating and revising program plans
• Assists in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to delivery of the healthcare services
• Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems
• Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
• Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician.
Compensation: $120,000- $125,000 per year based on experience.
Schedule/Hours of Performance: The contractor will normally work 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, excluding Federal Holidays. Work hours will normally be between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. or between 6:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. These hours may be adjusted to meet the needs of the institution. NO WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY COVERAGE REQUIRED!
Education and Qualifications:
The nurse practitioner must be licensed to practice medicine in any U.S. State. The nurse practitioner must be certified by the AANP (American Academy Nursing Practitioners). They must have at least one year of experience as a nurse practitioner.
The nurse practitioner must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. The contractor must submit a resume and photocopies of documents evidencing medical education, license, certification, training, and proof of malpractice insurance. Specialty certification in men's health or mental health is preferred but not required.
The contract employee must possess the ability to work with a population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
The contract employee must possess good organizational skills, good interpersonal relationship skills and be able to work effectively with medical staff.
