SS&C is the largest global investor service provider, servicing more than 55 million investors. Continually investing in global technology and services across the spectrum of distribution channels including: Asset Managers, Financial Advisors, Wealth Managers and large financial institutions such as Banks and Insurers.

Global Investor and Distribution Solutions (GIDS) is the business unit offering this role. GIDS delivers global omni-channel investor servicing, including contact centre, using digital services.

About the role

As a Digital Software Test Lead at SS&C, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. This position is ideal for a seasoned software tester with expertise in both manual and automation testing, who also has experience leading and managing a team of testing professionals. You will be responsible for setting and maintaining testing standards across multiple projects, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices throughout the product development lifecycle.

You will work closely with development teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality software delivery, leveraging a mix of manual and automated testing strategies to meet the needs of our clients.

Your Responsibilities

  • Test Strategy & Planning:
    • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive test strategies and plans for both manual and automated testing across various projects.
    • Ensure testing standards, processes, and methodologies are consistent and aligned across the Product and Innovation team.
    • Identify testing needs and establish test environments in collaboration with the development and DevOps teams.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and manage a team of manual and automation testers, ensuring that testing best practices are followed.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior testers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
    • Oversee the allocation of testing resources across projects, ensuring effective use of skills and alignment with project priorities.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, goal-setting, and career development plans for testing team members.
  • Quality Assurance & Control:
    • Lead efforts in automated test script development, execution, and maintenance using industry-standard tools.
    • Conduct manual testing for complex scenarios and edge cases where automation is not applicable.
    • Perform regression testing, performance testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure product quality.
    • Track and report on defects, test coverage, and other quality metrics to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Work closely with product managers, development teams, and business analysts to understand requirements and define acceptance criteria.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all testing activities within the Product and Innovation team, communicating status, risks, and issues to stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices into testing processes.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay up to date with the latest testing tools, technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement within the testing function.
    • Evaluate and recommend new testing tools and frameworks to enhance test coverage and efficiency.
    • Lead initiatives to improve testing automation coverage, reducing manual testing efforts where possible.

Your experience:

  • Proven experience as a Software Test Lead or Senior QA Engineer with a focus on both manual and automation testing.
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, test design techniques, and test management tools.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, TestNG) and scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team of testers, including resource allocation and performance management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the financial services industry, particularly with testing financial software products.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based testing platforms and performance testing tools.
  • ISTQB or equivalent certification in software testing.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and working within an Agile environment.
