Overall Role to Springfield ReManufacturing Corp.
Under the direct supervision of the General Manager, this role will lead the Product Engineering management function. Its primary responsibilities include reverse engineering engines and turbos, providing customer technical support, and supporting existing products in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and launch product according to APQP methodologies.
- Direct multiple project timelines while ensuring customer requirements are being met.
- Support the IATF quality systems set in place.
- Evaluate, implement, and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of engines, turbochargers, and engine components.
- Perform research and development work on new products or additions in existing products.
- Determine reliability of Engineering Change Request and implementation.
- Provide estimates of fallout on all components of the product being researched for the purpose of remanufacturing viability and related costing issues.
- Assist in other disciplines during all phases of new product cost quotations, development, pilot runs, and introduction to production departments.
- Implement product improvements in coordination with QA or customer request for reliability.
- Administer and work closely with the production and quality departments to provide a safe working environment and a quality product.
- Must be willing to travel to customers or vendors as required.
- Provide strong leadership for department and communicates a strategic vision for organization.
- Recruit, retain, and lead department workforce. Conduct performance evaluations for subordinate personnel to ensure a well-qualified and motivated department.
- Required to follow safety standards. Required to wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
- Overnight travel of varying lengths may be required, at times with little notice. Need to be able to travel internationally.
Key Qualifications:
- BS/BA Degree in Engineering or combination of education and work experience.
- Five year's engineering leadership.
- Able to make judgments and decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Must be able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to read blueprint specifications.
- Must be willing to expand on knowledge and abilities as needed.
