Qualifications

Required:

  • BA/BS degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with applied physics and new technology development work, preferably with experience building and testing hardware

  • Active TS/SCI clearance 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and possess excellent oral and writing skills
  • Self-starter and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Desired:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Math, or other STEM field
  • Prior experience working programs at DARPA as a technical and program management support contractor
  • Knowledge of DARPA processes and procedures

  • Demonstrated program management expertise, with over 5 years following program management best practices in a research environment, preferably as a project lead



Responsibilities

The candidate will support the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) program manager by participating in or leading all activities in project management, technical and programmatic risk analysis, and program-funded test coordination. As a Technical SETA in our fast-paced Strategic Technology Office (STO), you'll play a critical role in SPA's mission by assisting with the coordination of meetings, assessing performer technical progress, projecting performer outcomes, and ensuring that project management best practices are followed by performers, independent verification and validation (IV&V) entities funded by DARPA, and within DARPA itself. The candidate will apply technical research, development, and engineering experience across a breadth of DoD projects. Relevant skills include experience developing high-power electronics, optics and fiber lasers. Experience in sensors and data processing is highly desired. Exemplary candidates will also have demonstrated an ability to learn new subjects and gain rapid insights into current and next-generation research topics, preferably with hands-on leadership of research programs at the performer level.
