Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in the field of military/political science, maritime policy, international relations, national security affairs, strategic studies of Government, or related field
  • Familiarity with the U.S. military structure and terminology
  • 4 years experience with thought leader engagement and/or the development of academic training programs
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, written and oral communication skills, and high attention to detail
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.
  • Secret clearance (or above) and the ability to maintain it throughout employment

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in the field of military science, operations research, maritime policy, international relations, national security affairs, strategic studies of Government, or related fields
  • Experience with publication design, curriculum development


Responsibilities

Responsible for providing program support to the Department of the Navy's Office of Strategic Assessment (OSA) staff in support of a Naval Strategic Studies Group (NSSG) pilot support program.  In support of the Department of the Navy, OSA conducts timely, independent, and data-informed analyses and assessments in a transparent and collaborative manner to inform DoN leadership on options and trades for strategic decision making in support of current and future maritime needs.  OSA supports the implementation of a disciplined approach to agile strategic decision making across the DoN enterprise.  To support the NSSG, the pilot program analyst will: (1) assist in the administration of an academic cohort of up to 8 officers and government civilians tasked with a strategic capstone project to impact DoN strategic needs. (2) schedule staff visits and travel to the Naval War College, Navy Postgraduate School, various Combatant Commanders, and other institutes of higher learning.  (3) coordinate with OSA leadership to organize and schedule weekly leadership engagements for the NSSG. (4) assist with the benchmarking and development of NSSG curriculum options and courses of analytic assessments.  This position will start at SPA HQ in Alexandria, VA may migrate to onsite support in a government facility in the DC area.  This position will require periodic travel.  This candidate should assume work will involve classified information and need to be largely on site with limited opportunities for remote/telework.
