The Slitter Machine Operator will have overall responsibility for the machine including set-ups, output, and maintenance. Operators must obey all facility and department guidelines and expectations. Other duties and functions may be assigned on an as-needed basis. Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined individuals who have demonstrated break-fix skills in their work and life environment and have a passion to make things work and ability to problem-solve through situational analysis by breaking it down and determining root causes, which enables the machine to operate in the most effective manner. Come grow and develop your career with us! 

Shifts Available: 

One position on 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, 1pm-9pm, OT as needed 

One position on 3rd Shift, Monday-Friday, 9pm-4am, OT as needed

***TRAINING ON 1st or 2nd Shift***

Successful candidates for Slitter Operator will: 

  • Have strong mechanical aptitude that enables effective operation of our machines 
  • Work closely with teams/departments to create an environment that supports workflow 
  • Engage in areas of continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives in finishing 
  • Work safely, abide by and promote established safety policies and procedures; identify and follow up to ensure unsafe conditions are managed 

Successful candidates should be able to: 

  • Think through the mechanical aspects of equipment operations and decision making, such as performing change overs, changing paper rolls, and removing splices 
  • Perform visual quality inspections and performance testing, system data entry, and ensure appropriate records are maintained 
  • Ensure machine performance, troubleshoot equipment and product issues
  • Sort and package end products 
  • Manage time effectively on multiple long and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines 
  • Understand and help further enhance current business systems, processes, and workflows 
  • Endure long periods of standing, which also involves movement in and around the work area and machines 
  • Display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals both internal and external to the organization 
  • Demonstrate good math, measurement, reading, and writing skills, and have the ability to tactfully communicate to customers and employees of all levels of the company 
  • Demonstrate interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a diverse group/variety of people and personalities 
  • Work safety and proactively to ensure a safe work environment 

Education, Skills, and Experience:  

  • Required: Computer skills and knowledge 
  • Required: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs 
  • Required: Good motor skills and dexterity, mechanical and analytical skills
  • Preferred: High School degree or equivalent 
  • Preferred: Prior experience in a converting environment  
  • Preferred: Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing and ISO quality systems
