THE OPPORTUNITY:

Under the guidance of the Director of Compensation & Benefits, the Senior Compensation & Benefits Coordinator will focus on day to day benefits administration and staff compensation administration.

 

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

On any given day, you will:

  • Document and distribute minutes for Benefits Committee and Pension Committee meetings and keep notes for other meetings
  • Process all benefit vendor invoices and reconciliation
  • Respond or route questions from internal email inbox
  • Assist with Open Enrollment and annual retirement plans audit
  • Process benefits enrollment and auditing
  • Process ad-hoc benefits enrollment vendor updates
  • Maintain job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensure descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position
  • Gather data from market-based compensation surveys using spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends
  • Support annual compensation review process
  • Coordinate firm's wellness programs such as walking challenges
  • Other duties as assigned
 

YOU HAVE:

  • A bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • At least two years of experience in finance, human resources or benefits/ compensation required; preferably in a law firm or other professional services environment.
  • General knowledge of law firm operation, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems
  • Excel proficiency is required (v-lookup and pivot tables)
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to communicate with employees at all levels of the firm
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to practice confidentiality of protected and sensitive data and ensure compliance with HIPAA
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work with a commitment to quality of finished product
  • Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team
  • Ability to think analytically and creatively
  • Must have good baseline knowledge of benefits administration including health care programs and 401(k)

Chicago: The full-time salary range for this role is $65,000 to $70,000 annually, which is based on a 35-hour work week.

 

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role in the locations listed above at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographical location and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
