THE OPPORTUNITY:

We have an incredible opportunity for a Bankruptcy Associate with 1-4 years of bankruptcy experience for our Chicago office.

Seyfarth's Corporate attorneys possess the broad, in-depth experience necessary to serve a diverse client base, ranging from start-up ventures to middle-market companies to large multinational corporations.  We provide clients with guidance on key decisions that determine long-term success.  Since corporate matters frequently involve aspects of many legal disciplines, our corporate team regularly draws on the resources of Seyfarth's other practice areas such as employee benefits, executive compensation, intellectual property, labor and employment, real estate, environmental and bankruptcy.  In this way, our clients receive full attention from dedicated, focused business attorneys. In addition, our Litigation Department of more than 170 lawyers across the firm's global platform offers a full-service litigation practice, with specific practice areas in commercial litigation, consumer financial services litigation, product liability, bankruptcy, class action defense, construction, eDiscovery, government contracts, trade secrets, computer fraud and non-competes, intellectual property, and securities. We are regularly recognized in these practice areas in national and regional rankings by Chambers, The Legal 500, U.S. News & World Report: Best Lawyers, and BTI Consulting Group.

Our drive for excellence leads us to seek out better ways to work with our clients and each other. We have been first-to-market on many legal service delivery innovations and we continue to break new ground with our clients every day. This long history of excellence and innovation has created a culture with a sense of purpose and belonging for all. In turn, our culture drives our commitment to the growth of our clients, the diversity of our people, and the resilience of our workforce.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

As an Associate in our Bankruptcy Group, you'll have the opportunity to work on interesting, challenging, and groundbreaking matters in collaboration with senior attorneys.

YOU HAVE:

  • 1-4 years of bankruptcy experience (this may include a bankruptcy judicial clerkship).
  • A combination of experience with bankruptcy motion practice, bankruptcy litigation and workout experience.
  • Excellent academic credentials, analytical skills and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidates must be admitted to the Illinois Bar or meet the requirements to waive in.

WHAT WE PROVIDE:

We provide competitive salary and benefits at all levels. For associates, we provide comprehensive training through our mentoring programs, CLE initiatives, Seyfarth University, industry credentialing, and hands-on learning by working side-by-side with our partners.
