Advanced Practice Provider - PICU
Regular Full-time Day/Nights
Working within a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary setting, the Advance Practice Provider (APP) will function as the frontline provider on the ICU team. The professional we select will obtain history and physical assessments, order/interpret labs, perform beside procedures as well as formulate diagnoses and treatment plans. Additional responsibilities include ventilator management, vasopressor titration, ECMO and CRRT management, post-operative care, and in-hospital care of chronically ventilated children The APP will also independently attend hospital-wide rapid response calls. Duties will also include:
- Providing expert clinical care, education, consultation, advocacy research, leadership and mentorship.
- Collaborating and coordinating care with medical team to deliver evidenced-based care and establish best practices in clinical care.
- Participating in research design, implementation and interpretation.
- Managing primary, acute and chronic health problems through comprehensive history and physical examination assessment and diagnosis. This may include palliative and end of life care.
- Ordering and prescribing pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, and performs other therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
- Promoting the advancement of the nursing profession at Lurie Children's and the community-at-large. This may include publication, participation in professional organizations and providing educational support to the nursing staff.
Credentials
- Master's degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing.
- 3 years of PICU RN experience required (APRN Candidates)
- Licensure in the State of Illinois as an APN is required.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification
- Excellent communication/listening skills, bilingual helpful.
