The Environmental Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to all environmental regulations and standards. This role involves monitoring and evaluating the company's environmental impact, developing and implementing compliance strategies, and ensuring that all operations are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner. The specialist will work closely with various departments to promote sustainable practices, conduct audits, and provide training on environmental policies. By maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws, the Environmental Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in minimizing the organization's environmental footprint and promoting a culture of environmental stewardship.
This position can be hired in a remote capacity; and it is a benefit to be located near a US Schreiber Foods facility.
What you'll do:
Supports day-to-day environmental program activities for all US Schreiber facilities to ensure compliance to federal, state, and local regulations including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Department of Transportation regulations, and applicable radiation regulations.
Offers technical and regulatory guidance and training to plant EHS, Maintenance and operation management.
Conducts internal audits at all US based Schreiber locations. Identifies root causes of environmental issues and proposes appropriate action plans. Assists plants through completion of action plans.
Supports plant environmental reporting and reviews reports for accuracy prior to submittal. Including EPCRA reporting, wastewater reporting, storm water reporting, etc.
Provides spill reporting and clean up guidance during “Spill Hotline” calls. Assists plants with completion of follow up reports where required.
Minimizes, to the fullest extent, Schreiber Foods environmental and regulatory impact. Assists with implementation of environmental compliance program modifications to assure on-going compliance with Local, State and Federal regulations.
What you'll need to succeed:
7 years ofEnvironmental compliance experience with an applicable certification, or a bachelor's degree in applied science or related field and 3 years of experience in Environmental compliance
Management of environmental programs at a production facility level. Creation of environmental training programs. Conduct plant audits to identify regulatory improvement opportunities and proposes appropriate action plans. Generate reports of audit findings, convey to plant leadership, and drive action plans to completion
Ability to travel up to 25%
