Position Summary: 

 

In this role, your primary responsibility will be to coordinate the daily movement of trucks and railcars in and out of the terminal, as well as operate the scale house. Act as the liaison with customers, carriers, and subhaulers as well as vendors and maintenance.

 

Coordinators are also expected to support production and product handling operations when required.

This role requires an individual who demonstrates clear and concise communication skills, and who can function in a busy working environment.

 

Responsible for ensuring the Safety Policy and Requirements are implemented and sustained throughout the work.

 

This position may be on a shift rotation including night shifts.

 

  • Operate truck scale, entering/completing orders, issuing completed Bills of Lading and scale tickets to drivers.
  • Prepare daily switch activity for switch crews by capturing the needs of our customers and organizing the movement of our people and equipment, capitalizing on efficiency
  • Handle and resolve local rail issues with local railroad supervision.  Professionally interact with railroad operations/customer service teams on local service issues.
  • Coordinate railcar repairs with onsite personnel and outside vendors.
  • Maintain the site's railcar inventory 
  • Prepare bill-of-lading for all out-bound cars
  • Working with inventory system to ensure collecting accurate information and then reporting this information to our customers via daily and weekly reports.
  • Working directly with customers to assist with questions, solve issues, and provide them with any information they may need
  • Partner with other logistics coordinators to reconcile information and fix any errors
  • Work with supervisors and managers to share information and assist them with anything related to the inventory system
  • Anticipate the needs of those you support and complete assigned tasks with a high degree of accuracy with minimal direction

Requirements for a successful Logistics Coordinator:

  • 2 to 3 years of job-related experience where the success of the position relied on accurately receiving, inputting, interpreting and utilizing data to make decisions in a fast-paced environment; dispatching and/or logistics experience a plus
  • Experience with or able to learn the required rail logistics programs, or other rail management programs
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with MS Office suite
  • Must demonstrate an ability to manage many incoming demands in a short period of time, and organize and prioritize them in a way that the output business flow is smooth, and customer expectations are met 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Read, write and understand of English
