Savage, an established supply chain solutions company, is seeking a Compliance and Operational Analytics Supervisor who will partner with the Leadership Team of our Canadian Operation Team. The successful candidate will be our Western Canada point of contact as we strive for consistency across the Canada Region network with respect to Rail Training and Certification; Analyzing Field Observations and industry trends and elevating better ways; Conducting infield Proficiency monitoring; and reviewing existing Industrial Material Handling Procedures, Policies, and Proficiency to ensure full implementing and editing where needed.
The successful candidate must have the experience and capability to ensure Regulatory Compliance in Material handling regulations, CROR/Provincial Certification, and has excellent problem-solving skills. Written and verbal communication skills (bilingual English / French preferred) are of the utmost importance to ensure a consistent demonstration of stewardship while delivering key results.

What you will be doing
- Work directly with our Operations Managers and SH&E Leadership to ensure our Company, Customer, Transport Canada, and Provincial / Municipal Regulator Authorities regulatory requirements are met
- Work with Operations Managers, Supervisors, and SH&E Leadership to maintain and elevate our standard Rail operating procedures and Rail Safety Management System. Ensuring all operations and terminals are in full compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Understand the importance of Federal and Provincial Regulatory Requirements with respect to Labour Standards and the insights required to implement or elevate needs or changes.
- Establish a trusting relationship between Savage, our customers, and regulators in a way that creates value and provides an opportunity to elevate our relationships
- Anticipate the needs of the operations and complete assigned tasks with a high degree of accuracy with minimal direction
- Lead in Safety by setting an example, following procedures, praising safe behavior, correcting unsafe acts, and continuing to build our culture of safety
- Update, maintain, and continuously improve elements of Savage's Delivery System - our S7 system
- Work with the Team Members to ensure work activities are performed in a safe and healthy manner in compliance with Savage applicable policies, regulatory obligations, and customer requirements
- Be a mentor to new hire Team Members, and assist with the onboarding processes
- Ensure Team Members follow policies and procedures and are aware of site policies and initiatives
- Ensure training is consistent and current with all Team Members
- Define goals with the Operations Managers, Supervisors, and SH&E Leadership to formalize them. Some potential areas include emergency response planning, helping with hazard IDs and supporting Incident investigations collaboratively
- Work closely with Operations Managers, Supervisors, and SH&E Leadership to continually strive to be BEST in Class in Safety.
- Tracking and compiling Operational KPI and OKR data, and summarizing in a monthly / presentation format to be shared within the operations, Regions, and Customers
- Support the Savage Better Way process, and help Team Members champion their ideas
- Regular correspondence with Operation leadership to update on training or S7-related compliance or training needs information
This is what you'll need to be successful
- Advanced knowledge and experience in MS Office Suite with the ability to navigate Savage's internal reporting system for statistical analysis
- Proven ability to analyze situations and data to make sound decisions
- Excellent written communication skills (bilingual English / French preferred) for writing emails, reports, training, proposals, and more
- Impeccable integrity with honesty in dealings with the company, Team Members, Customers, and Regulators
- Detailed-oriented self-starter who can budget time and resources and is able to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrates a sense of leadership and ownership for responsibilities, yet is teachable and willing to learn from manager and others
- Works well with others. Has a desire to cross-train and communicate with Team Members in a similar capacity to accomplish a given task.
- Must demonstrate an ability to manage many incoming demands in a short period of time, and organize and prioritize them in a way that the output business flow is smooth and customer expectations met
- Comfortable in front of a group: whether it's training frontline employees or presenting a safety plan of action to a potential customer
- Responds well to high-pressure situations
- Ability to work in an Office environment on occasion, and understanding of office etiquette
- A desire to work in the field alongside operators, in an industrial environment
Position Qualifications
- BA/BS preferred
- Post-high-school education in a related field preferred
- Preference will be given to candidates with Regulatory experience in the Rail Industry, Industrial Materials Handling and Management, and Marine Handling and Management experience
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience as a safety professional in a railway, refinery, oil and gas, or other industrial environments
- 2 to 3 years of job-related experience where the success of the position relied on accurately receiving, inputting, interpreting, and utilizing data to make decisions in a fast-paced environment

- Comfortable working in an industrial environment and the hazards that accompany it; exposure to all weather elements.

- Travel is required across Western Canada up to 50% of the time.
