This is what you'll be doing:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment
- Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing equipment
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Learn and partner with the Maintenance Supervisor to maintain accurate maintenance records
- Collaborate with Team Members outside of the department to ensure the overall success of the operation
- Perform general maintenance on trucks and tractor trailers in the elements as this position does not have an enclosed shop
This is what you need to be successful:
- Two to Three years of Semi-Truck Fleet Mechanic experience
- Own tools necessary for maintenance
- Confidence in repairing suspensions, rear ends, transmissions, air brake systems, minor engine work (injectors, turbos, etc.) and more
- An expert in identifying and diagnosing needed repairs by computer based systems, being able to visually recognize problems a big plus
- Ability to read and write English. The job demands the ability to understand and interpret both written and verbal operational and safety guidelines, as well as related regulations, policies, and memos.
- Clear and effective communication with colleagues and superiors is a key requirement for this role.
- Ensure compliance to strict OSHA and State regulations
- Additional experience that is plus but not required:
- Class A CDL
- Weld aluminum is a plus
- Experience with a variety of trucks
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:
- Ability to work outside in the elements
- Work a rotating schedule and call out schedule
- Work in an environment containing hazardous noise, confined space, and in hot or cold environments
- Work at heights, climbing stairs, and climbing ladders
- Walk on uneven ground and up to 3 miles per shift
- Must have ability to wear required PPE
- Lift up to 50 pounds frequently
