SAIC is seeking a Test Engineer to support the US Navy in Newport, RI.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

SAIC provides technical support to Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport (NUWC) in Newport, Rhode Island. SAIC is currently looking to hire a Test Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists supporting special projects for the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI). Applicants should be proficient in testing methodologies, experienced with designing and executing test plans, analyzing test data, familiarity with relevant industry standards, and hands-on experience with various testing equipment.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Test plan development: Create detailed test plans outlining test objectives, procedures, data collection methods, and expected outcomes for system testing during large scale testing events. 
  • Data Analysis: Analyze collected test data to identify anomalies, validate system performance against requirements, and generate comprehensive test reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, product managers, and other engineers to understand product requirements, discuss test strategies, and ensure quality throughout testing events. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as an Engineer in one of the above fields or similar roles.
  • Gathering requirements: Understanding product specifications and functional requirements to ensure tests adequately cover all critical aspects.
  • Testing Methodology: Proficient in test design principles, test case development, and data analysis techniques.
  • Test Report Generation: Accurately documenting test results, including data analysis and anomaly identification.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to document test results, present findings to stakeholders, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance; active DoD Interim Secret clearance or higher preferred.  

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Performing Functional Testing: Executing tests on mechanical components like actuators, motors, and assemblies, as well as electrical circuits, power systems, and control logic to verify functionality.
  • Test Equipment Proficiency: Operating and interpreting data from oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, load banks, data acquisition systems.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
