SAIC is seeking a Space Protection Mission Engineer to join the Space & Intelligence Business Group providing systems engineering and technical advisory services to a rapidly expanding Government Intelligence Community (IC) customer. The customer is developing the next generation of space and ground systems, architectures, and hardware and software solutions.
The Space Protection Mission Engineer is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and System Program Office (SPO) representative in coordinating with the development contractor and stakeholders (including end user operators). The Space Protection Mission Engineer coordinates the development and verification of requirements related to on-orbit activities. The Space Protection Mission Engineer collaborates within a team of mission-related SMEs responsible for coordinating the system development, requirements verification testing (and selloff), identification of discrepancies, and mission validation testing, culminating in the deployment of new protection capabilities into space operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Represents the SPO as a technical SME to synchronize with stakeholders, organizational system engineering management processes, and operations equities to ensure common understanding of the needed capabilities and interfaces necessary for use by space operators to advance the nation's space resiliency posture
- Supports the SPO in the system technical capability planning to acquire ground-processing systems
- Coordinates, develops and presents briefings to engineering boards to guide the SPO through the engineering and acquisition trade spaces
- Serves as the SPO technical representative in managing requirements, monitoring the progress and providing technical support to software development, and advising in the implementation of space protection capabilities to deploy to ground processing systems
- Serves as an individual contributor and member of a team of SMEs that work to develop technical plans and documentation, coordinate the acquisition, and support the integration of ground processing systems with space systems to protect space assets
- Supports COTRs and developers to refine understanding, designs, and testing capabilities to meet user needs
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors and nine (9) or more years experience; Masters and seven (7) or more years experience; PhD and five (5) or more years experience
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with Polygraph (Polygraph within the last 10 years)
- Experience with IC or DOD software systems and concept of operations development
- Experience developing, testing, or fielding systems
- Familiarity with Space Object Surveillance and Identification (SOSI) systems, activities, or operations
Desired Qualifications:
- SOSI Experience and familiarity with Indication and Warning (I&W) tactics, techniques, and procedures
- Experience within NRO
- Familiarity with Agile development to include participation in scrums, development of solution epics/features, and continuous integration/continuous deployment
- Familiarity with Confluence and JIRA
