SAIC is seeking a passionate and skilled Solutions Architect to join our high-performing development team. This position is supporting the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFMS) program. This position is 100% remote and does not have an onsite requirement.
AFMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and training and analysis standards that support the US Air Force (USAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and mission partners requiring these capabilities to support the Warfighter in full-spectrum operations.
Core Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Leadership
- Lead technical solution development including approach documentation, architectural diagrams, and implementation roadmaps
- Provide overall integration technical guidance and leadership across projects
- Define and deliver architecture deliverables including detailed diagrams and integration standards
- Conduct requirements and solution concept workshops for enterprise-scale implementations
- Ensure solutions meet both business and technical requirements
- Transform customer requirements into innovative technical solutions
Technical Design & Implementation
- Design, implement, and optimize AWS cloud solutions tailored to DoD requirements
- Develop architectural blueprints and documentation for AWS deployments
- Create scalable, secure cloud architectures leveraging AWS services
- Implement cloud-native patterns and best practices
Security & Compliance
- Ensure all solutions comply with DoD security standards and guidelines
- Implement Zero Trust Architecture principles
- Design robust security controls including encryption, MFA, and access management
- Conduct security architecture reviews and risk assessments
- Maintain compliance with federal security frameworks
Project Execution
- Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for solution integration
- Manage technical resources and timelines
- Provide architectural oversight during implementation
- Monitor and optimize solution performance
Business Development Support
- Support capture activities with technical solution development
- Present AWS capabilities and solutions to customers
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's and five (5) years, or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree
- Must be a US Citizen and currently possess a Secret Clearance
Technical Expertise:
Deep expertise in AWS services and architectural best practices
Strong knowledge of:
- AWS compute, storage, and networking services
- Container technologies (ECS, EKS)
- Serverless architectures (Lambda, Step Functions)
- Cloud security services and controls
- Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform)
- CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
Experience with:
- AWS GovCloud
- Hybrid cloud architectures
- Network design (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect)
- Identity and access management
- Cloud security and compliance frameworks
Desired Qualifications
Technical Certifications
- AWS Professional level certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps)
- Security certifications (CISSP, CCSP)
- Cloud security certifications
- Project management certifications (PMP, SAFe)
- Cloud One Experience (HIGHLY DESIRED)

- Machine Learning/AI on AWS

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
