SAIC is seeking a Software Testing Technician to join our team in Huntsville, AL in support of the FMS/D team.
The FMS/D software is a portable, user-friendly, real-time, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL), digital simulation of the various PATRIOT radar, launcher, and missile configurations. FMS/D's diversity allows the system to be used in several applications, from working in a laboratory environment or deployed in a field environment to tie a tactical PATRIOT ECS into a common threat architecture, while supporting Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) ground tests, to augment training and the exercising of Gunnery Tables I-XII in air battles. While FMS/D is the main Software Product that Lab is responsible for, it is part of a suite of Software Products developed by the FMS/D Lab that simulate other parts of the PATRIOT weapon system. The FMS/D program produces highly visible products used around the world for training of soldiers on the PATRIOT weapon system, and to test other systems that interoperate with PATRIOT.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with an Agile process focused development team using effective communication, while following and helping to refine our process.
- Provide leadership and share knowledge with less experienced developers and peers.
- Document your work for the benefit of your teammates, the user, leadership, and posterity.
- Identify and solve challenging problems by writing performant, elegant, and practical code.
- Provide in-person, phone, and email support to our customers in support of any of our three software products.
- Expected to be proactive in helping to keep our Software Products as modern as possible.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- AA Degree in related discipline; or High School and 2+ years of related experience
Clearance Requirements:
- Must possess an active Interim Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance; US Citizenship required.
Requirements
- Professional software engineering experience, working on multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong fundamentals in computer science topics including object-oriented design, algorithms, computer networks, and data structures with primary emphasis on RedHat based Linux OS, C/C++, Git, GitLab, GTK, and Glade
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills and comfort working on shared projects with designers, testers, analysists, and other developers
