Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is seeking a seasoned and forward-thinking leader to serve as the Senior Manager, Cyber Center  for a collaborative initiative at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The successful candidate will be pivotal in strengthening the bridge between academia and industry, fostering innovation and real-world application in the field of cybersecurity. The candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating activities across various stakeholders, leading an intern program, and administering assorted programs within the cyber domain.

Working Conditions: The role may require occasional evening and weekend commitments for center activities and events. Travel for conferences, networking, and relationship building may also be necessary. The selected person must live within commuting distance of UMass Lowell, MA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Cyber Center, driving advancements in cybersecurity education and applied research, in alignment with both SAIC's and UMass Lowell's missions.
  • Develop and implement cutting-edge cyber education and training programs tailored to meet the evolving needs of the industry and government sectors.
  • Foster robust relationships with internal stakeholders such as faculty, IT staff, university administration, and students to integrate cybersecurity practices across multiple disciplines and research initiatives.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with external entities, including government, defense, private sector organizations, and other educational institutions to bolster the center's offerings and real-world impact.
  • Collaborate with SAIC's leadership and UMass Lowell's Career Services to manage and continuously improve an intern program, aligning student development with industry needs.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of assorted programs and projects, ensuring they align with strategic goals and adapt to the changing cybersecurity landscape.
  • Administer the center's budget, resources, and personnel, advocating for excellence, innovation, and efficiency.
  • Identify and secure grants, sponsorships, and additional funding streams to support and expand the center's initiatives.
  • Represent the center as its principal advocate, effectively communicating its vision, success stories, and needs to a range of stakeholders, including potential investors and collaborators.
  • Keep current with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to integrate state-of-the-art concepts into the center's operations and educational offerings.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Masters and sixteen (16) years or more of experience
  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field; Ph.D. preferred.

Required Clearance:

  • Top Secret clearance required 
  • US citizenship required

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, with a proven track record in leadership positions.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in collaborating with diverse stakeholder groups, including academia, industry, and government entities.
  • Solid track record in program and project management within academic, research, or industry settings.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity threats, defense mechanisms, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Experience in grant writing and fiscal management.
  • US Air Force / Hanscom PEO experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in establishing and maintaining internship programs within the cybersecurity industry.
  • Proven success in building partnerships and networks across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expertise in innovative educational technologies and teaching methodologies.
  • Engagement with cyber research communities and a history of facilitating applied research collaborations.
  • Previous experience in developing and leading a center or similar entity within a higher education or industry setting.
