We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Word Processor III to join our talented team. In this role, you will be responsible for complex document creation, editing, and formatting tasks, requiring advanced proficiency in word processing software like Microsoft Word, including features like tables, graphics, mail merge, and complex layouts, while also potentially managing document workflows and collaborating with other teams to ensure accuracy and timely delivery. 

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare various documents, including correspondence, reports, tables, forms, and presentations, from handwritten copy, rough drafts, or machine dictation.
  • Utilize advanced formatting options like columns, headers, footers, and styles to ensure professional presentation.
  • Incorporate complex layouts with images, text boxes, tables, columns, graphics, and design elements.
  • Create and edit documents using advanced features of word processing software.
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in all documents.
  • Ensure documents meet specific quality standards and adhere to specific style guides or templates.
  • Manage multiple versions of documents, tracking changes, and incorporating feedback from various stakeholders.
  • Perform mail merge functions to generate personalized documents in bulk using data sources.
  • Create and manage complex tables with calculations and formulas.
  • Maintain document filing systems and ensure accurate document version control.
  • Collaborate with teams to gather information, incorporate feedback, and streamline document production.
  • Stay updated with new features and functionalities of word processing software.
  • Thoroughly proofread and edit documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and clarity.
  • Organizes and maintains files and documents in a systematic manner.
  • Create and maintain document templates.
  • Ensure easy access to information.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding document requirements and progress.
  • Coordinate document preparation with other team members.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of experience with Microsoft Word.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word or other similar software.
  • Strong understanding of all Microsoft Word features, including formatting, styles, tables, graphics, and advanced layout options.
  • Advanced knowledge of word processing software features, including macros and automation tools.
  • Understanding of document conversion and export formats.
  • Ability to meticulously proofread (grammar, spelling, and punctuation) and edit documents to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex formatting issues or document challenges.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members to understand document requirements and provide updates on progress.
  • Experience managing multiple documents simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient typing speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to organize and manage files and documents effectively.
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues related to document preparation.
  • Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Required Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
    • Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
