SAIC has an immediate opening for a Policy Analyst supporting the Headquarters Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Strategic Deterrence and Nuclear Integration, Policy and Strategy Division (AF/A10P), Nuclear Policy and Strategy Branch (AF/A10PS). Work will be performed in the Arlington, VA area (Pentagon).

 Responsibilities include:

  • Assess and monitor studies, audits, and reports in work or completed by DoD and other agencies for AF/A10 equities and impacts to the Air Force nuclear mission.
  • Perform analysis and draft position papers on strategic Air Force nuclear posture, Conventional-Nuclear Integration (CNI) and deterrence issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to assist Air Force participation in and governance of Conventional-Nuclear Integration.
  • Support AF/A10P engagement in wargaming across DoD, development of nuclear/non-nuclear integration.
  • Draft and coordinate staff packages for review and approval.
  • Develop briefings and presentations for senior Air Force leadership.
  • Coordinate meetings and provide read ahead packages as necessary.

Qualifications

Required Educational Background:

 Bachelor's Degree and ten or more years of related experience or Master's Degree and eight years of related experience.  

 Required Experience/Skills: 

  • Knowledge of the organization and functions of the Department of Defense.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across the Air Staff and throughout multiple organizations of the Department of Defense.
  • Background and knowledge in deterrence theory, nuclear strategy, arms control, geopolitics, and key military challenges facing the United States.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to manage and successfully accomplish multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated superior research, analytic, and writing skills required.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

 Desired Skills: 

  • Understanding of military operations and plans, particularly Air Force nuclear operations.
  • Background and experience designing, analyzing, and participating in wargames.
  • Familiarity with the US NC3 system.
