The Network Infrastructure Lead is responsible for the management and oversight of all on-premise infrastructure activities. This role involves leading and supervising teams, integrating LAN/WAN architectures, implementing new technologies, managing various areas including storage technologies and enterprise security, overseeing the design and implementation of IT infrastructure, forecasting resource requirements, managing network monitoring and security, vendor contractor collaboration, capacity planning, incident response, network documentation, technology evaluation, collaboration with IT teams, and conducting root cause analyses. This position will be hybrid remote and will require some onsite work in Washington DC.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Team Leadership: Lead and supervise teams of various job categories and skills in a converged network environment, fostering a collaborative environment and providing guidance and performance management. 

LAN/WAN Architecture Integration: Integrate LAN/WAN architectures to ensure seamless communication across the network. 

New Technology Implementation: Investigate, successfully implement, and integrate new technologies into a converged network to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. 

Personnel Management: Manage personnel in areas including storage technologies, enterprise security, network management, desktop and server operating systems, directory services, unified communications, wireless technologies, application distribution technologies, and internet services. 

Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability. 

Resource Forecasting:Forecast resource requirements for infrastructure and application scaling, working closely with other IT teams to accommodate the organization's growth and evolving needs. 

Network Monitoring: Implement and maintain network monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve network issues, ensuring high availability and optimal performance. 

Security Management: Ensure network security by implementing best practices, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and staying updated on security threats and mitigation strategies. 

Vendor Contractor Management: Collaborate with network service providers and vendor contractors to negotiate contracts, monitor service level agreements (SLAs), and ensure cost-effective solutions. 

Capacity Planning: Forecast network growth and plan for additional resources, such as bandwidth and hardware, to accommodate the organization's evolving needs. 

Incident Response:Develop and execute procedures for handling network incidents, outages, and escalations, minimizing downtime and impact on business operations. 

Network Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, policies, and procedures, facilitating troubleshooting and knowledge sharing. 

Technology Evaluation:Stay informed about emerging networking technologies and recommend relevant solutions to enhance network performance and security. 

Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, departments, and management to align network infrastructure with overall business goals and objectives. 

Root Cause Analyses: Conduct root cause analyses to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred with nine (9) years of overall experience, or a Masters and seven (7) years of experience or PhD and four (4) years of experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in infrastructure management or related roles. 
  • Strong understanding and experience in LAN/WAN architecture, network monitoring, security management, and capacity planning. 
  • Experience in team leadership and personnel management. 
  • Knowledge of emerging networking technologies and their application in enhancing network performance and security. 
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Ability to obtain a SAFe Agilist Certification within 6 months of start
  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
