SAIC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Mechanical Engineer will support Design and Engineering tasking for Flight Tests, with expected travel 4 times per year for up to 2 weeks per trip at potential locations including China Lake CA, White Sands NM, Eglin AFB FL, Huntsville AL, and Camp Atterbury IN with Huntsville and Camp Atterbury being the most likely locations.

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Flight test support position includes planning testing, participating in testing and data analysis/report generation post test.
  • The person will be assigned to work with the Government customer, and will be expected to learn from them to perform everything for flight test support, from the initial request for a test to occur through to the completion of a technical report after the test has ended and the data analyzation.
  • The position will require obtaining an explosives certification (with non-DOT CDL physical and urinalysis at that point) after starting in order to potentially work on the flight line inspecting flare buckets pre and post flight if needed.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and two or more years' experience.
  • Will complete the following training after start date: Explosives Safety Certification, physical, and urinalysis.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Interim secret clearance required to start with the ability to obtain a secret clearance.  SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.
