Introduction
Make a difference for national security by joining a team of dedicated IT professionals who will sustain, modernize and transform the enterprise IT capabilities for the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA). The Air Force and Combatant Commands Business Group of SAIC is seeking a Cloud Architect (Lead) to support a transformational infrastructure program for DCSA.
SAIC is proud to be supporting DCSA in safeguarding our nation's information. DCSA is the designated oversight authority on the accreditation of classified facilities, information systems, and the insider threat program. This involves security oversight of more than 10,000 companies and approximately 13,000 facilities involved in classified work throughout the DoD and 31 Federal agencies.
Specifically, on the DCSA One IT program, SAIC will provide an enterprise IT solution that delivers highly secured and adaptable IT infrastructure, provides customer support, and cutting-edge technologies that support operations and advance the DCSA mission under a single IT environment (i.e., One IT).
Job Description
Team Leadership and Technical Project Management:
- Lead a small team of cloud architects and engineers, managing day-to-day tasks, prioritizing workloads, and ensuring successful project delivery.
- Act as a technical project manager, overseeing cloud-related initiatives, timelines, resource allocation, and progress reporting to leadership.
- Foster a collaborative team environment, providing mentorship and guidance to engineers on cloud design, deployment, and troubleshooting efforts.
Enterprise Cloud Strategy Development and Execution:
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute enterprise cloud strategies and implementation plans aligned with customer goals and objectives.
- Design and deliver secure, scalable cloud architectures (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) leveraging AWS and/or Azure services, ensuring alignment with DoD security requirements including Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA), Impact Levels (IL2-IL6), and NIST 800-53 compliance.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for cloud technologies, identifying opportunities to optimize performance, scalability, and security of cloud environments while ensuring compliance with DoD directives, memorandums, and regulations.
- Develop solution frameworks, design principles, and conceptual architectures to be handed off to enterprise operations for final implementation and sustainment.
- Align cloud strategies with FedRAMP and Zero Trust guidelines.
Enterprise Architecture and DoDAF Models:
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture models, including Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) artifacts, to support enterprise-level decision-making and planning.
- Work closely with leadership and stakeholders to ensure alignment of architecture models with mission requirements and DoD organizational goals.
- Document and present DoDAF views, including Operational Viewpoints (OV), Systems Viewpoints (SV), and Capability Viewpoints (CV), ensuring alignment with Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA) design principles and functions.
Technical Research and Strategic Analysis:
- Conduct research on emerging cloud technologies, industry best practices, and DevSecOps solutions to address organizational goals and evolving requirements.
- Develop Course of Action (COA) and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) documentation to enable leadership decision-making on cloud technology investments and strategies.
- Provide technical demonstrations and presentations to leadership, stakeholders, and broader audiences to showcase proposed solutions and research findings.
Architecture Design and Troubleshooting:
- Design and implement virtual networks, scalable architectures, and integrated solutions in both AWS and/or Azure environments with alignment to DoD security requirements.
- Develop and validate system test strategies, functional design specifications, and documentation to support project milestones.
- Perform troubleshooting, system optimization, and ensure compliance with NIST 800-53, and other relevant cybersecurity standards.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
It is required that the Lead Cloud Architect have the following qualifications:
- Bachelors with 9 or more years of experience as a Cloud Architect or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Certification in Information Assurance (e.g., Security+, CISSP) in accordance with DoD 8140 requirements.
- AWS or Azure Architect Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect).
- Strong understanding of Secure Cloud Computing Architecture (SCCA), DoD Impact Levels (IL2-IL6), FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53 compliance frameworks and Enterprise DevSecOps designs.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud infrastructure, including building scripts with Terraform and automating configurations with Ansible.
- Experience with ICAM, and Zero Trust architectures.
- Experience creating documentation, COAs, AoAs, and leading technical demonstrations for leadership and stakeholders.
- Experience developing and maintaining DoDAF models and enterprise architecture artifacts.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage technical projects and teams effectively.
Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
