A trusted leader in cloud, digital engineering, data, and Artificial Intelligence, the nation looks to SAIC to integrate emerging technology to modernize critical missions and enable its national imperatives. SAIC is looking for a full-time, onsite IT and/or Software Engineering Interns to join our team in Hampton, VA in support of the US Air Force's Air Operations Center Weapons System (AOC WS) Falconer program. The AOC Weapons System includes a wide breadth of classified and unclassified on-premise and cloud environments and infrastructure technologies, networks and interfaces, robust cybersecurity protections, and supporting software.
Selected interns will work 100% onsite in Hampton, VA, Monday - Friday, during normal business hours, and have both college coursework and personal experience in various elements of IT, infrastructure and software engineering; positions include both traditional IT/infrastructure/systems administration elements, and cloud-based platform integration.

Required Duties & Responsibilities:
· With oversight, provide software engineering, cloud/on-premise infrastructure engineering and provide technical assistance to staff and customers on hardware and software-related issues.
· Install, configure, and troubleshoot computer systems, hardware, and software.
· Monitor system performance and troubleshoot any issues.
· Follow established procedures and processes for computer maintenance.
· Provide training and support to team members on the use of computer systems and software.
· Perform system backups and maintain accurate records.
· Research and recommend solutions for technical problems.
Qualifications
Required Education & Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree or 2-4 years college coursework
- Preferred majors: Computer Science, Computer/Systems Engineering, or other related technical/STEM field, and be in strong academic standing
· A strong desire and willingness to learn, under the mentorship of seasoned IT engineering professionals, more about IT Service Delivery/Management, Data Analytics, Software and Cloud Engineering.
· Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required).
· Familiarity with computer systems, software and development/sustainment practices, including Agile DevOps/DevSecOps environments.
· Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
· Strong communication and customer service skills.
· Able to work independently and as part of a team, learn quickly and adapt to changing technologies.
Desired Skillsets/Qualification include a combination of many of the following:
- Familiarity with hardware and software installation.
- Familiarity with networks and systems security.
- CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent DoD-approved baseline certification for IAT Level II), or willingness to complete certification within 30 days of starting.
- Familiarity with software coding, including HTML, CSS, Java, C#, or other commercially-applicable languages, and scripting languages including PowerShell and Bash.
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the AWS Console, and AWS CLI.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and/or Kanban.
- Familiarity with Windows Server and/or Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with writing code to automate infrastructure deployment. (Infrastructure-as-Code), installation, configuration (Configuration-as-Code), and operation of virtualized and containerized software applications using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell.
- Familiarity with writing code to interact with AWS instances, and experience with writing code to configure Windows Server, Linux, containerized applications, and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Git-based source code management tools such as GitLab, GitHub, and Bitbucket, etc.
- Familiarity with development and automation orchestration tools such as GitLab and GitLab CICD.
