SAIC is looking for an Engineering Technician V in Bedford, IN to support our Combat and Strategic Systems Operation supporting production efforts for the Advanced Manufacturing Systems Program Office in support of NSWC Crane tasking portfolio.
Job duties include:
- Production of mechanical and electromechanical systems, assemblies, and sub-assemblies
- Document work in production process instructions
- Review technical documentation and drawings
- Apply currently accepted manufacturing processes and ISO procedures in the manufacturing of systems
- Provide analysis and recommendations for changes and improvements to system assembly, operation, modification, and maintenance
- Perform acceptance testing on components and systems to ensure functionality and compliance with design specifications, determine the causes of failures, and test manufactured products to maintain quality
- Use SolidWorks and work closely with engineers, technicians, drafters, and customer to initiate and capture designs, and to document installation of machines and electronic equipment, including associated wiring into Tactical Systems
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Associate's Degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience; OR High School Diploma and 5 years of relevant experience in integration, installation, repair, and maintenance efforts for Tactical Systems
- Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance; not needed to start; Interim Secret must be obtained within 60 days of start of work.
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Available for a flexible work schedule, including extended or weekend hours, sometimes on short notice, to include holidays as needed.
- Must be able to complete the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to lifting, pulling, pushing and/or carrying up to 50 pounds, unassisted, on a regular basis; climbing into confined spaces within tactical vehicles or shelterized systems; manipulating and handling objects needed for installation: reaching, grasping, twisting, turning and manipulating equipment and tools within confined spaces, as well as walking, bending, stooping, sitting, standing or squatting for extended periods of time.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to perform, under minimal supervision, a variety of moderate and complex tasks and use tools to include calipers, gage tools, tape measures and other mechanical devices to aid in design development and verification or validation of first article pieces.
- Ability to perform all duties while scrupulously adhering to all prescribed safety protocols.
- Knowledge of parts, materials, and processes related to electrical and mechanical components.
- Ability to use various hand, power-driven, and specialty tools for assembly of systems..
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, handbooks, sketches, block diagrams, schematics, and blueprint drawings.
- Ability to install mounts, brackets, cables, connectors, electronic equipment, and labels.
- Ability to perform quality repairs in a timely manner.
- Ability to create and modify 3D models and 2D drafts in SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of ASME drafting standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
DESIRED
- Experience with CREO, Solid Edge, and Autocad also desired.
- Knowledge of quality systems (e.g., inspection process, company quality procedures).
- Strong mechanical skills and experience supporting military tactical systems: troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, installation, and checkout procedures.
