Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Engineering Technician V to join our dynamic team. As a crucial part of our research and development efforts, you will perform non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, select and adapt plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contact personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work and reviews, and analyze and integrate the technical work of others. Individual may train and be assisted by lower level technicians. Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements.

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, and constructs navigation systems/subsystems, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results, to include general guidelines and specifications.
  • Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems to include detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.
  • May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design; and plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance. 
  • Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results, and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Engineering Technology, or similar; and fourteen (14) years of practical experience in US Navy Electronics.  
  • Eight (8) years of experience, to include: installation of such equipment. 
  • Four (4) years of experience, to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
  • Eight (8) years of experience with Navigation Systems, of which 5 must have been performed within the last 7 years. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and technical problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated communication and organizational skills.

Required Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
    • Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
