SAIC is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Electronic Lab Technician to convert, modify, build, install, troubleshoot, operate, and maintain hardware and software networking systems for the Composite Tracking Network (CTN) program in Crane, IN.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The ideal candidate will have a working background in electronics, networking, software installations, hardware assembly installation, and the ability to take direction from seasoned team members; will have the ability to read and understand complex diagrams, wiring schematics and assembly drawings for troubleshooting, modification upgrades and installations as necessary; and will have a working knowledge of servers, routers, switches, UPS systems, and data processing equipment.

Job duties include:

  • Assist with technical support for CTN engineering, modification, conversion/upgrade, network troubleshooting, and software installation of complex networking devices and related systems.
  • Perform non-routine and complex assignments involving installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CTN networking and data processing equipment.
  • Work closely with government team to integrate system software and hardware upgrades into existing infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and minimal disruption in project scheduling and system upgrades and installations.
  • Implement quality control processes to validate the integrity and performance of networking and hardware system upgrades and installations.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and testing of CTN system components for Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) upgrades and software installations.
  • Must have the ability to travel and work with ECP installation teams and support system operations at CTN test events.
  • Write reports and record data as it relates to testing procedures, laboratory equipment and specifications.
  • Perform all software loading procedures for upgrades on Ethernet cards and Processors.
  • Collect and record operational and test data from testing verification protocols.
  • Program firmware into electronic devices (we will train) using Xylinx software.
  • Transfer FTP files from server to processor boards (we can train) using Hyper Terminal/Teraterm.
  • Stake wires which will include mixing two-part epoxy by weight. Dispenser provided (we can train).
  • Take fiber optic power meter measurements (we can train).
  • Work in an Open Storage (SECRET) lab with COMSEC items.
  • Assist with inventory management of SECRET/COMSEC secure items.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates degree in related discipline; A minimum of 2 years of basic electronic. networking and troubleshooting experience accepted in lieu of degree; Certifications accepted in lieu of experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance; not needed to start.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to read and understand technical manuals, networking diagrams, wiring schematics, assembly drawings, blueprints, hardware drawing tree, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assembly drawings.
  • Must be able to assist in the creation and design of technical documents such as training manuals, networking diagrams, wiring schematics, and system blueprints.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of network devices such as routers, servers, switches, UPS systems, and data processors.
  • Familiarity with measuring RF signal power levels; operating RF power meter/sensor, oscilloscope, and spectrum analyzer.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and complex networking configurations.
  • Must be willing to learn new skills, such as soldering and fiber optic connector repair and installation, wire wrapping and wire staking.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must have strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces when necessary.
  • Must be attentive to details to ensure products meet Government requirements and qualifications.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 6 times a year to varying locations OCONUS/CONUS.
  • Must be able to assist and provide technical support to teams both organically and inorganically.
  • Must be security minded and able to keep records, inventory, and accountability of unclassified, classified and COMSEC equipment.
  • Must have a familiarity with soldering circuits, printed circuit boards and related electronic connections.
  • Be familiar with operation of a Simple Keyloader (SKL).

DESIRED

  • Any of the below certifications/knowledge/experience
    • IPC J-STD-001 Soldering Electrical/Electronic Assemblies
    • Fiber Optics CFOT certification, or at least two years of relevant field experience
    • IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies
    • Red Hat OS Development Software Certification or knowledge
    • CM approved Microsoft Boot and OS software Certification or knowledge
    • Data Lan/Wan networking knowledge
    • Electrostatic Sensitive Device (ESD) certification
    • Operating System (OS) Linux
    • Familiarity with RS-232, -422, Ethernet, and 1553 preferred
