We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Admin to join our talented team. This role will require skills in database design, data analysis, performance tuning, data security, data visualization, strong communication abilities, and the ability to translate complex business needs into database structures. Responsibilities include managing and optimizing existing databases, designing new databases, ensuring data integrity, performing data analysis, and collaborating with stakeholders to identify data requirements.
Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.
This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and optimize existing databases, including performance monitoring, data cleansing, and backup procedures.
- Design and implement new databases to support business requirements, including data modeling, schema creation, and data migration.
- Perform data analysis to identify trends and patterns, generating reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
- Ensure data integrity by defining data quality standards, identifying and resolving data quality issues.
- Implement and maintain database security policies to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access.
- Collaborate with business users and application developers to understand data needs, gather requirements, and translate them into database solutions.
- Proactively monitor database capacity and performance to anticipate future needs and scale accordingly.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of professional experience.
- Proficient knowledge of database concepts like normalization, data modeling, and designing efficient database structures across various database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
- Advanced SQL skills to query, manipulate, and extract data from databases, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Ability to analyze large datasets, identify patterns and trends, and translate data insights into actionable business recommendations.
- Understanding database performance metrics and techniques to optimize query performance, indexing strategies, and database configuration.
- Experience implementing data security measures to protect sensitive data, including access controls, encryption, and data governance policies.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to create meaningful charts and graphs to communicate data insights effectively.
- Ability to manage database projects from planning to implementation, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders, explain technical concepts, and present findings.
Required Security Clearance:
- US Citizenship required.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
- Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
