SAIC is seeking a Cloud Engineer Chief to support the AF TENCAP HOPE 2.0 contract. The AF TENCAP HOPE 2.0 contract bridges intelligence community collection architectures, capabilities, and technologies with DoD operational and tactical requirements. This effort will deliver rapid, innovative, and cost-effective capabilities to meet warfighter needs, and will include bringing national capabilities to bear cross all warfighting domains spanning intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, combat applications, battlespace awareness, command and control, multi-level security and mission programs. This next generation approach shall employ the latest advancements in geolocation and tagging, sensor and data fusion, unconventional / asymmetric warfare, situational awareness, cyberspace and spectrum warfare, large data analytics, data lake, jamming technologies, sensor technologies, geo-registration to deliver a cutting-edge approach.
SAIC is seeking a Cloud Engineer Chief to support the AF TENCAP HOPE 2.0 contract. This role leverages cloud computing technologies to enhance the development, integration, and deployment of innovative military systems, prototypes, and technologies. The Cloud Engineer Chief ensures that cloud solutions are optimized for scalability, security, and performance, supporting AF TENCAP's mission to create and transition advanced capabilities into operational environments.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud engineering, system integration, and cloud platform management, particularly within classified projects and the DoD environment, with a strong focus on security and compliance. This role requires proficiency in scripting languages, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization, microservices, and Agile methodologies. Leadership and management experience are essential, as the Cloud Engineer Chief will mentor junior engineers and contribute to strategic project planning. The candidate will work closely with system engineers, software developers, and analysts to design and integrate cloud-based infrastructures, support prototype activities, and enable secure, efficient data storage, processing, and analytics.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, plan, and integrate cloud computing and virtualization systems.
- Provide detailed information for hardware, software, and cloud service provider selection.
- Develop and conduct testing of cloud and virtualization systems.
- Maintain expertise in industry standards and cloud computing technologies.
- Evaluate and report on new cloud and virtualization technologies.
- Collaborate with system engineers, software engineers, and analysts.
- Implement automation, hypervisors, containers, virtual compute, storage, and networks.
- Manage self-provisioning and scaling of cloud infrastructures.
- Support accreditation and continuous monitoring of cloud solutions.
- Convert product requirements into total systems solutions.
- Perform functional analysis, trade studies, and requirements allocation.
- Mentor and manage junior engineers.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 18 years of experience in IT Systems (on-prem, cloud, …)
- 5 years of experience in IT Support for classified DoD/IC systems.
- 5 years of experience leading technical teams.
- Extensive experience in cloud engineering, system integration, and cloud platform management (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices.
- Experience with leveraging git for code management (ArgoCD, Flux, Gitlab).
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (Atlassian suite: Jira, Confluence).
- Experience with account management solutions (RBAC, AWS IAM, Azure AD).
- Experience in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
- DoD 8570/8140 certifications or equivalent in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity (e.g., Security+ or higher).
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or Microsoft Certified Azure Expert.
- Experience with DoD/AF Cloud solutions (e.g. DAF Cloudworks, CloudOne, FENCES).
- Experience with DevSecOps & CI/CD pipelines to support secure software development.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns and principles.
- Experience with data engineering, data science, and AI/ML technologies.
- Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Target salary range: $200,001 - $240,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
