The Mechanical Shop Lead Senior will lead and support full vehicle builds, retrofits, garage services, and
prototype development programs and ensure established safety, environmental, quality, and
manufacturing procedures are followed. The role will interact and communicate with customers,
management, and employees and provide support to the Supervisor. The Mechanical Shop Lead Senior
will mentor and coach team members in all aspects of mechanical project support.
As a Mechanical Shop Lead Senior, you will:
- Lead and manage team members including providing guidance and training
- Delegate tasks and assignments, monitor progress, and check quality
- Interact and communicate with internal and external customers to resolve issues
- Track and approve attendance, scheduling, tool calibration and timecards
- Manage employee conflict, safety incidents, and emergency situations
- Maintain shop equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns,
performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs - Maintain vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders and conducting inspections
- Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components
- Track issues and Quality Operating System (QOS)
- Lead daily shop organization and clean-up
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a mechanic
- Minimum of 6 months of informal leadership experience
- Good knowledge in Microsoft Office and good computer skills
- Excellent knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team and able to lead and mentor others
- Ability to read, comprehend and execute written procedures
- Certificate in Automotive Technology, Engineering Technology, or related
- National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s)
- State Mechanic Certification(s)
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire mounting and balancing and related equipment
- Knowledge of electrified vehicles and associated battery systems and their safe operation and
handling - Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends
