Title: Research Associate - cGMP Engineering & Cell Manufacturing Facility

Regular Company: Department: Time Type: Weekly Hours: 0 FTE: 0 Shift: Summary: Performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests and experimental procedures for the purposes of original research which generally are within a well-defined body of scientific knowledge and typically contribute to larger research efforts of independent investigators.Assists with planning specific research procedures; develops and troubleshoots new techniques that have been written up in the literature; proposes alternative experimental procedures to the principal investigator.
Assists with care and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies; ensures that the necessary supplies are available; periodically orders inventory and supplies as needed.
May supervise or participate in the technical training of new staff and students in the laboratory; demonstrates basic laboratory techniques to laboratory assistants and technicians, research fellows, residents, and students; reviews research literature for pertinent information and attends conferences and courses to keep abreast of research field.
Processes blood and tissue samples provided to the laboratory from different studies; collects plasma and blood cells for procedures; extracts cells and other biological material as needed for various research projects.
The starting salary is $59,537 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package. The listed pay range reflects the range of potential compensation for this role. The actual offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, and experience. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
1. Master's degree and the equivalent of eighteen (18) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment; or
2. Bachelor's degree and the equivalent of thirty (30) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years experience in biological sciences, chemical/biochemical engineering or related scientific discipline
- Background knowledge of quality by design
- Knowledge of process development
- Knowledge of technology transfer
- Knowledge in statistical design of experiments (DOE)
