Title: Pathology Technical Specialist

Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Pathology Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Under the supervision of Pathologists and Pathologists' Assistants, provides technical support in the Mohs Dermatology Laboratory, frozen section area, processes of simple, noncomplex biopsy specimens, and assists in postmortem examinations.

Salary range for this position is $61,516 - $78,307 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package. In addition this position offers a geographic differential of $6.04 hourly for a total annual range of $74,114 - $90,905. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

License Requirement
1. License to practice as a Certified Histological Technician, Clinical Laboratory Technician, Histotechnologist, or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York; or
2. Eligibility for licensure as a Certified Histological Technician, Clinical Laboratory Technician, Histotechnologist, or Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York.

Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Histological, Clinical Laboratory Technology or a related discipline and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time pathology laboratory experience including the performance of frozen section or grossing biopsy specimens; or
2. Associate's degree in Histological, Clinical Laboratory Technology or a related discipline and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time pathology laboratory experience including the performance of frozen section or grossing biopsy specimens.

NOTES:
1. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain the required licensure within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experiences:

  • Previous/current experience with standard Histology procedures
  • Previous/current experience with Frozen/Moh's sectioning
