Title: Assistant Member - Indigenous Cancer Health

Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Indigenous Cancer Health Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: The Roswell Park Department of Indigenous Cancer Health (ICH) seeks an Assistant Member to lead and collaborate in projects across tribal areas dedicated to environment and human exposure in the fields of cancer epidemiology and biostatistics as they relate to cancer health issues, population science, and Indigenous Nations. We seek applications from a researcher who has worked and has experience with Indigenous populations, environmental research (bench or basic science), cancer health disparities, and/or epidemiology/biostatistics. The work should be community-based and community-driven, advancing the understanding related to environmental challenges and concerns of Indigenous populations at the tribal, local, regional, national, and international levels across the cancer care continuum. The position will engage by means of a participatory and tribally driven fashion with Indigenous community partnerships, research that will make contributions to the scientific knowledge that will translate to the Indigenous experiences, providing understanding of cancer disparities related to the human condition and Indigenous populations. The Assistant Member candidate should have a strong background in cancer epidemiology, biostatistics, and environmental health with experience in working with Indigenous societies.

The candidate will work within the Department of Indigenous Cancer Health and in collaboration with the Center's Community Advisory Board and existing partnerships and will receive support for creating an independent research program as well as analyzing existing data, grant writing and writing manuscripts for publication. The Assistant Member will be a member of the Department's outreach team, Roswell's Community Outreach and Engagement, and support building new partnerships toward community-based research. Lastly, the Assistant Member will collaborate with Roswell's education team by supervising summer research experience students who will contribute to these efforts. Ability to travel inter-tribally, regionally, nationally, and internationally is required.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree with a background in environmental research and/or cancer epidemiology/biostatistics and show strong productivity commensurate with level of appointment. Selection will be based on excellence in research, and potential to maintain an outstanding independent research program focused on environmental research and/or cancer epidemiology/biostatics with a strong background in cancer surveillance with experience in working with sovereign Native Nations.

Salary range is $98,456 - $212,380 which includes a comprehensive benefits package. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

Doctoral degree in an appropriate scientific or clinical-based discipline and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in an applicable scientific or clinical research environment.

NOTE: Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
