Title: Assistant Laboratory Director, Cytogenetics

Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Cytogenetics Laboratory Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in performing cytogenetics laboratory tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis, treatment and research; functions as the Clinical Laboratory Director in the Director's absence for all administrative, technical and operational activities; provides direct administrative and clinical support to Clinical Laboratory Director, Cytogenetics and Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine; maintains a NYS Certificate of Qualification as a laboratory director for clinical cytogenetics; provides technical guidance to staff involved in the interpretation of chromosomal banding and structure to provide diagnosis, prognosis and remedy for hematologic and solid tumor cancers; performs and monitors simple and/or complex test procedures; renders diagnosis based upon cytogenetic analysis; plans, coordinates and participates directly in the research program for cytogenetics; participates in clinical research and/or laboratory research and development in accordance with organization and department objectives; acts as a consultant to organization investigators; participates in the advancement of cytogenetic science by publishing original research relating to the field.

The salary range for this position is $161,676 - $225,000 annually which includes a comprehensive benefits package. The listed pay range reflects the range of potential compensation for this role. The actual offer may vary based on qualifications, skills, and experience. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

License and Certification Requirement
CertificationNew York State Certificate of Qualification holder.

Education and Experience
MD or PhD and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time training and/or laboratory experience, including two (2) years of experience in general laboratory management, methods and techniques in Cytogenetics or other acceptable certificate category.

NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
