Organization Overview
We provide gene targeting and mouse embryonic stem cell technology for members of the Rockefeller University, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and their collaborators. We continue developing and adopting innovative approaches to better assist biomedical research in our community.
Overview
The Research Support Assistant will be responsible for implementing the protocols of the newly purchased Nanopore Sequencing device and performing targeted long-range sequencing of genomic DNA from mice and cells, which the lab modifies using gene editing technology.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Improve the currently available protocol of Nanopore Sequencing to suit the purposes of the lab
- Perform gDNA preparation, PCR and sequencing analysis to support our mission of gene editing
- Participate in lab meeting and contribute to general lab maintenance

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Background with college-level coursework in chemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or related subjects
- A minimum of six months of lab experience in a related field is preferred
- The individual must agree to work with animal specimens and human cells
Preferred:
- Willing to learn and innovate new lab techniques
- Computer/App savvy is a plus

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Compensation Range: Min
USD $27.47/Hr.
Compensation Range: Max
USD $32.97/Hr.
