Organization Overview

The Rockefeller University Hospital is funded by the National Institutes of Health and has 20 patient beds for clinical research. The Hospital provides researchers with an opportunity to conduct clinical studies and offers both normal volunteers and people with diseases under study the opportunity to stay in the hospital and help to contribute to important advances in science. The Hospital has an inpatient unit as well as an outpatient center where prospective patients are screened,and many outpatient studies are conducted. The Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day with professional nurses and has nutritional research,social work,art and recreation departments,and a radiology suite,as well as its own research pharmacy. Overview

 

The Director of Biostatistics will work with cross-functional teams on the design, analysis, and reporting of clinical and translational studies; provide statistical expertise and defense of regulatory, grant and protocol submissions. 


Responsibilities

Projects and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Design, analyze and publication of clinical, laboratory or translational research, including high-throughput genomic/proteomic.
  • Engage in a wide variety of collaborative projects with basic scientists and translational biomedical investigators and statisticians.
  • Write statistical sections of protocols and center grants. Co-develop new statistical algorithms, and co-publish articles in scientific journals describing the statistical methods.
  • Train investigators in research integrity, including proper rigor in design, methods to ensure reproducibility, randomization and blinding, appropriate use of artificial intelligence, proper pre-submission checks of manuscripts for plagiarism and image manipulation.
  • Participate in trainings and workshops to keep informed on Biostatistics, Evaluation Research and Design (BERD) related topics.
  • Create a dynamic vision for the CCTS Biostatistics group and supervise and mentor Biostatisticians and interns.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • PhD, DrPH in related field is required. 
  • Must have the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of investigators and personnel, and a broad understanding of the role of biostatistics in clinical and translational research.
  • Must be proficient in database manipulation and experienced with the use of statistical softwares (e.g. R ,S-plus, SAS, SPSS, PRISM or other comparable programs for routine statistical analyses).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, and attention to detail is required.

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience working in clinical and translational research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or in an academic medical center.
    Broad knowledge and superior understanding of advanced statistical concepts and techniques.
  • Prior experience with the analysis of omics data from high-throughput experiments (e.g. RNA-seq, qPCR, NGS) is also desirable.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.


Compensation Range: Min

USD $210,000.00/Yr.
Compensation Range: Max

USD $230,000.00/Yr.
