Working with Richardson opens the door to a world of possibility.  We currently have an opportunity for a Mill Operator at our Portage la Prairie, MB location.  This position is responsible to operate all milling equipment and systems in the production of oat based ingredients. 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate all milling equipment, including grain cleaning, dehulling, kilning, flaking and oat flour manufacturing systems

  • Steam heat treatment of raw and finished products

  • Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs on milling equipment

  • Test finished products and work in progress to ensure adherence to quality standards

  • Perform cleaning duties as assigned to meet standards in all areas of the mill and grounds

  • Accurately complete documentation for all processes

  • Operates in accordance with all food safety, safety, and fire prevention regulations and practices

  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent 

  • Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends

  • Computer knowledge an asset

  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50lbs

  • Solid oral and written communication skills

  • Solid problem solving and trouble shooting skills

  • Able to work in a processing environment and adverse conditions (heights, steam processing and hot environments,)

  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment
