Rebound is the largest orthopedic and neurosurgical practice in the Portland-Vancouver area with an array of sub-specialties including orthopedics, brain and spine care, sports medicine, physiatry, and physical therapy. We are looking for a full time Hand Therapist to join our amazing Hand Therapy team working in the Portland/Vancouver Metro Area. Our Hand Therapists are responsible for rehabilitating persons with upper extremity physical disabilities. Patients include accident victims and individuals with disabling conditions such as arthritis, fractures, tendon, nerve, ligament and soft tissue injuries, contractures, and post-operative conditions. The ideal candidate will possess great organizational skills and energy, a can-do attitude, a desire to learn the practice, and a collaborative team spirit. The candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, a superior commitment to patient care, and the ability to work closely with patients and physicians. This position will be primarily based out of our Vancouver locations, and may travel occasionally to our Camas and Lake Oswego location.

Responsibilities:

  • Help to restore physical function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent permanent disability. Assist in restoring, maintaining, and promoting overall fitness and health.
  • Examine patient medical histories. Test and measure patient strength, range of motion, muscle performance, sensation and motor function.
  • Determine patient ability to be independent and reintegrate into the workplace or community after injury or illness.
  • Develop plans describing a treatment strategy, its purposes, and its anticipated outcome. Plan often includes splinting and/or exercise regimens at the clinic and at home to increase flexibility, strength, endurance or function. May use modalities such as electrical stimulation, hot packs, cold compresses, and ultrasound to relieve pain and reduce swelling and promote motor function.
  • Fabricate custom splints appropriate for patient diagnoses and conditions. Teach patients proper use and care of splints.
  • Document patient progress, conduct periodic examinations, and modify treatments with emphasis on identification of areas requiring more/less attention.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational or physical therapy from accredited program; successful completion of clinical internship. Master's or Doctorate degree in occupational or physical therapy preferred.
  • Physical or Occupational Therapist License in Washington.
  • Certified Hand Therapist.
  • BLS certified.
  • Minimum two years of experience as an occupational or physical therapist, in a hand clinic setting.
  • Knowledge of basic science including biology, chemistry, and physics as well as biomechanics, neuroanatomy, and disease manifestations.
  • Knowledge of upper extremity anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of medical practice policies/procedures, regulations, safety/injection control, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of examination techniques, therapeutic procedures and splint fabrication. Skill in appropriate evaluation and treatment of patients.
  • Skill in fabricating splints that are well designed for fit, function, and appearance; and prepared in a timely manner.
  • Skills in using Electronic Medical Records systems.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and desire to help patients.
  • Ability to analyze data and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
