Job Summary Responsible for the installation, maintenance, modification, demonstration, and repair of highly complex diagnostic/ therapeutic medical devices. Provides a high quality of training to clinical departments and technical support to clinical departments in area of expertise. Performs highly skilled technical and advisory work with clinical departments to assist in the development of processes/procedures relative to clinical use of technologies. Responsibilities Implements the preventive maintenance programs on highly complex medical electronic equipment so as to keep this equipment in as safe and accurate condition according to department policy, applicable codes, and manufacturer's recommendations. Analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs highly complex diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices utilizing established electronic test and measurement equipment, and techniques. May primarily function in a specialty clinical area requiring a high level of expertise. Installs, calibrates, and tests highly complex new medical electronic devices and/or systems. Conducts scheduled and unscheduled electrical and functional safety inspections on highly complex medical devices. Trains medical staff on the safe and proper use of highly complex medical electronic devices and systems. Provides operational and technical advice to clinical staff on highly complex diagnostic and therapeutic devices in area of expertise. Interacts with clinical staff on a regular basis to insure needs are being met and may be expected to be present during the clinical use of equipment. Acts as a technical resource for Biomedical Equipment Technicians and Biomedical Assistants to help them grow in ability, responsibility, and experience. Documents and maintains accurate records of all inspections, repairs, adjustments, etc. performed on all equipment. Modifies highly complex existing electronic devices and systems to meet the special needs of the user in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to equipment maintenance and use. Assists in research projects and/or new biomedical equipment evaluations. Interacts with manufacturer's representatives to obtain the necessary technical product information. Makes recommendations for capital equipment replacements to Leadership. Requests and/or orders necessary repair and spare parts according to established procedures and contract relationships. Participates in both internal and external educational programs through professional associations, technical training courses, and seminars to develop and maintain the required current technical aptitude. Participates in design and construction projects as directed. Assists with the training of technicians and quality control checks on the equipment repaired. Education Associate's Degree (or other 2-year degree) Experience 8 years Additional Requirements Associates degree in electronics, biomedical equipment technology, military training in biomedical equipment technology, or equivalent experience obtained through orginal manufacturer training. The use of the employees personal vehicle may be required to perform certain job functions. Must have a valid driver's license, maintain a safe driving record and be at least 21 years old. Certification(s) Preferred: Biomed Equip Tech Cert (CBET) Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES) Lab Equipment Specialist Certification (CLES) What You Will Do:

What you will need:
- Associates degree in electronics OR biomedical equipment technology OR military training in biomedical equipment technology, OR equivalent experience obtained through original manufacturer training.
- Valid State of Wisconsin Driver's License with acceptable driving record and at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to use own vehicle for travel between work sites.
- At least 8 years related biomedical engineering experience.
- Certification(s) preferred:
- Biomed Equip Tech Cert (CBET)
- Lab Equipment Specialist Certification (CLES)
- Radiology Equipment Specialist Cert (CRES)
- Certification by the ICC (International Certification Commission for Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Technology)
- CBET (Certification for Biomedical Equipment Technicians)
- CRES (Certification for Radiology Equipment Specialists)
- CLES (Certification for Clinical Laboratory Specialists)
