Job Summary

Provides occupational therapy treatment under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist according to the principles and practices of Occupational Therapy. Collaborates with team members in the implementation of the patient's individualized plan of care. Provides patient / family education, completes documentation of patient treatments, charges and other information as needed.

Accountabilities

  • Implements and manages a specific and comprehensive treatment plan

    - Administers patient treatments within the plan of care outlined by a licensed occupational

    therapist and progresses patients as indicated

    - Demonstrates basic knowledge of diagnoses / conditions seen in occupational therapy

    - Interacts with others involved in the patient's care to incorporate an interdisciplinary

    treatment approach for coordinated quality care

    - Demonstrates awareness and use of proper safety measures regarding the patients,

    others in the home and self

    - Assesses patient response to treatment, modifying when appropriate with input from the

    supervising therapist

    - Provides information regarding follow-up services which may include a referral to other

    community resources
  • Actively participates in patient and family education process

    - Provides education and training to patients, families and caregivers regarding diagnoses,

    proress and long-term functional outcomes

    - Teaches, counsels and communicates with the patient, family or caregiver educational

    information related to the patients diagnosis condition

    - Supports and provides educational material to patient / families for support grous as well

    as community resources
  • Complies with departmental policies for documentation

    - Follows POC as defined by the primary therapist and documents patient's progress toward

    goals

    - Documentation is in compliance with chart review audit components

    - Documents all aspects of assessment, planning, treatment and discharge in the computer

    in a timely manner

    - Daily treatment records are noted in the computer on a daily basis and are clear and

    professional in terminology

    - Appropriate abreviations and medical terminology is utilized

    - Obtains re-evaluations as required by S.C. Occupational Therapy licensure
  • Productivity

    - Assists with coverage within the Occupational Therapy staff

    - Meets the team / department productivity standards

    - Complies with established standards of efficient patient scheduling to maintain appropriate

    levels of productivity

    - Accepts and examines performance feedback and incorporates into conduct
  • Department and Team Responsibiities

    - Attends staff meetings, team meetings and mandatory inservices as scheduled

    - Completes mandatory training in a timely manner

    - Complete PPD testing prcedures by the end of the employee's birth month

    - Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality

    improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards

    - Completes assignments in a timely and thorough manner

    - Assists with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies

    - Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

    - Completes schedules, charge tickets and productivity sheets and mileage forms in an

    accurate and timely manner

    - Demonstrates willingness to assist and is respectful of the rights of other team members

    - Assumes an additional team/department responsibility

    - Complies with department procedures

    - Provides supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistant students.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from an AOTA Accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant Program
  • 2 years of Occupational Therapy experience

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina
  • SCDL - South Carolina DRIVERS LICENSE
  • You can use a valid driver's license issued by the state from which you moved for 90 days, after which time you must surrender it and obtain a South Carolina driver license.

In Lieu Of The Above Minimum Requirements

Team members employed in this job prior to July 1, 2020 are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements. In addition, team members must be certification eligible and will have one year to obtain required certification.

Other Required Skills and Experience

CPR Certification required.
