 Position Summary   PMA Consultants has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to be an integral member of the accounting department for a growing project and program management firm.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for a variety of financial tasks, including research of proper accounting treatment for new or unusual transactions, journal entry preparation of account reconciliations, supervising the accounts payable and business expense team, managing fixed assets, and the opportunity to learn about taxes and FAR overhead rate analysis for government contracts.  You will also be providing support to the Senior Director of Accounting and Controller, as necessary. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounts payable processes from requisition to disbursement, as well as a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a solid foundation in general accounting principles. Predictable and reliable attendance is key to success in this position.
Responsibilities include:

    • Prepare monthly and year-end standard journal entries as well as creating entries for new and unique events.
    • Research proper accounting treatment under both Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to drive accurate financial reporting.
    • Investigate and interrogate underlying historical accounting data to determine original intent and use accounting expertise to properly resolve any discovered deficiencies.
    • Account Reconciliations and the timely resolution of reconciling items.
    • Fixed asset recognition and monthly depreciation calculations.
    • Intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and eliminations.
    • Assist in the collection and analysis of data for various audits and governmental projects.
    • Completion of regular business and tax filings.
    • Supervise Accounts Payable and Business Expense team including vouchers creation, disbursements, working with others both inside and outside the organization, and reporting of year end 1099s.
    • Assist with the implementation of new accounting software and associated processes.
    • Other duties as assigned.                                      
Position Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration.
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience with general accounting skills with a focus on accounts payable.
    • Solid foundation and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
    • Excellent organization and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously required.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a growing team required.
    • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel required.
